The Fund Scope

Editorial policy

How The Fund Scope sources, checks, corrects and labels its coverage, and how it stays independent of advertisers.

Sourcing

Every figure in a story carries its source and the date it applies to. We prefer primary sources: filings, regulatory and legislative records, court documents, company statements and published datasets. Where a figure comes from a single unverified source, we say so. We do not publish estimates, rates, costs or timelines we cannot source.

Stories are written in our own words. When we rely on another outlet’s reporting, we name it and link to it.

Accuracy and updates

We state what is known and what is not. When a story changes materially after publication, we mark it as updated and show the date.

Corrections

If we get a fact wrong, we correct it in the story, note the correction and the date, and do so promptly. Send corrections to contact@thefundscope.com with the story and the source for the change.

Terminology and product coverage

We describe a merchant cash advance as structured as a purchase of future receivables and do not treat its legal characterization as settled. We cite an APR only as a provider’s disclosed estimate. Where a story covers costs, we note that commercial financing disclosure requirements vary by state and change over time.

Sponsored placements and any content paid for by a third party are labeled as sponsored wherever they appear. Sponsors do not review, approve or change our editorial coverage before publication.

Independence from advertisers

Advertisers and partners have no influence over what we cover, how we cover it or what we conclude. Commercial relationships are disclosed in the advertiser disclosure. Where a story links to a partner offer, the link is tagged as sponsored and the story carries a disclosure.
